Welcome to this week’s episode of News Right Now: Oh Mu’tasim!

An example of resistance, Muskan Khan showed an overwhelming amount of courage! In India’s Karnataka State, when going to turn in a collage assignment, a mob of Hindu goons wearing saffron scarves (the colors of India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party – BJP) approached her, telling her to take off her Hijab. In a time where the BJP committed violent crimes against Muslims, this brave woman decided to not comply with their orders. Instead, she, being Fearless and relentless, put her fist in the air and said “Allahu Akbar!”.

However, these BJP goons are not alone. The whole Bharatiya Janata Party has hate and animosity towards Muslims and Islam. They put in their full efforts to annihilate all Muslims from India- to make it a purely Hindu state. They no longer only speak hateful things towards Islam, they are dehumanizing Muslims and committing violent acts against them. And now, they are interfering with the education of Muslim women in India!

BJP runs the government in Karnataka , and the government-run educational institutions in Karnataka have denied Muslim women to wear the Hijab in schools! And this isn’t surprising news, considering that they have been striving to get this law in place for decades. Now, a humiliating site can be seen where women must take off their hijab outside of the schools. While the others that don’t comply get taken to a separate room, telling them they are unable to complete exams. But, Mashaa Allah, our Muslim sisters are not what they think. For they bravely say, “We cannot compromise the Hijab.”

Standing up for Islam, even though they may suffer the consequences, these brave women have put their faith, their Aqeedah, their Lord- Allah (swt) first. But they didn’t stop there. Women camped outside a college in the state’s Udupi district after the authorities shut down gates on them. Petitioning that the law gets lifted. Then protests surfaced on the internet and a wave of solidarity came from those across the country. Protests have since spread throughout other cities. Hundreds shouting slogans, expressing their resentment towards this ban. And even though the protest didn’t fix the problem, but instead caused a ripple effect and caused other colleges to also ban the Hijab, the women still remain hopeful.

But, with all of this happening, and Mushrikeen's stubbornness, what is the solution? Well when we look back into our history we can see how women, who were oppressed, were saved. As a famous story of one of our Caliphs, Al-Mu’tasim Billah. He was the Caliph in the year 837 AD. During this time, a Muslim sister was abused and locked into prison. There was no reason behind their actions. She was frightened and alone, so she called out “Oh Mu’tasim!”. And Subhan Allah, by the mercy of Allah (swt), a man witnessed this incident and decided to rush to the Caliph and inform him. And what did the Caliph say? He said, “Labbaiki” meaning, “I am here at your call”.

In order to save this ONE woman from oppression, he prepared a large army and set off to rescue this woman. When he called the emergency they had asked him what the problem was. He said, “A report has reached me that one Muslim sister was attacked in a roman city. I swear to God, I will send an army so big that when it reaches them it is still leaving our base. And tell me the strongest city of these Romans and I will send my army to that city”. And that is what he did. He sent his army to Amouria, defeated them, and freed the woman. This is the solution! To have a righteous leader who fears Allah (swt) and protects our sisters in Islam. One who will send an army for one woman, instead of these puppet rulers, who hear the cries of our women echoing through social media, and decide to go on with their interests! It’s time to uproot this system that they are implementing and work for the implementation of the Khilafah (Caliphate). Only then will our sisters be protected!

«إِنَّمَا الإِمَامُ جُنَّةٌ يُقَاتَلُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِ وَيُتَّقَى بِهِ فَإِنْ أَمَرَ بِتَقْوَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَعَدَلَ كَانَ لَهُ بِذَلِكَ أَجْرٌ وَإِنْ يَأْمُرْ بِغَيْرِهِ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ مِنْهُ»

“The Imam (Khaleefah) is a shield for them. They fight behind him and they are protected by (him from tyrants and aggressors). If he enjoins fear of Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, and dispenses justice, there will be a great reward for him; and if he enjoins otherwise, it redounds on him.” (Muslim).

May Allah (swt) guide us to our Noble shield and may we be of those who live to see our next Caliph. Ameen.
