Turkey - Indonesia's Empty Rhetoric for Palestine
News:
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Bogor on February 12, 2025, to strengthen economic and defense ties. This meeting marked the first High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council summit between the two nations. Discussions included regional and global issues, particularly the war in Gaza. The leaders signed agreements on trade, investment, education, energy, agriculture, health, and religious services. They also agreed on joint development of a Baykar combat-drone factory in Indonesia and Turkey’s investment in Indonesia’s new capital on Borneo island. Erdogan’s visit is seen as a new chapter in the strategic partnership between Turkey and Indonesia. (Source:apnews.com)
Comment:
Although both heads of state addressed the issue of Gaza and expressed their support for Palestinian independence during their meeting, their statements amounted to nothing more than mere political rhetoric, having no tangible impact on Palestine’s current situation.
From October 2023 until now, conditions in Palestine have remained unchanged. The Palestinian people continue to live under the control of the Jewish entity. Their homes and lands are confiscated, they are arbitrarily killed, arrested, and subjected to torture. This oppression has persisted for decades. Meanwhile, the leaders of the Muslim world engage in rhetoric without taking concrete and decisive action.
The meeting between Erdogan and Prabowo took place amid Donald Trump's recent proposal to relocate the people of Gaza from their homeland. These two leaders should have raised this issue and jointly condemned Trump's statement, which, in essence, constitutes a declaration of hostility towards the Muslim world.
If Turkey and Indonesia were truly committed to supporting Gaza and Palestine, they should immediately cease all forms of covert cooperation with Israel, which continues to this day. Furthermore, they should take the initiative to encourage other Muslim nations to adopt a firm stance against the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and their allies.
Regrettably, the Muslim world continues to entrust its fate—including that of Gaza—to the very colonial powers that support Zionist ‘Israel’.
It is imperative for Muslims worldwide to recognize that their leaders have betrayed them and merely serve as puppets of foreign colonial powers. With this awareness, the Muslim community can unite in striving for change, replacing these leaders with righteous Muslim rulers who fear Allah, love their fellow Muslims, and are willing to sacrifice their lives to defend their oppressed and occupied brothers and sisters.
