News Right Now: Inescapable Failure

Jordan was created after the Arab Revolt in 1916 and the consequent British invasion of the region which declared it as the Arab Kingdom of Syria in 1920. Following the French occupation of only the northern part of the Syrian Kingdom, Transjordan was left suspended between the colonial players - until Abdullah, the first son of Sharif Hussein arrived.

With the British mandate of Transjordan in the early 1920s, it became the Emirate of Transjordan under the Hashemite King.
And later in 1946, the independent Hashemite Kingdom of Transjordan was formed, and quickly admitted into the United Nations and the Arab League.

But this so-called independence was a cover for the colonial powers, who sought to attach themselves to Jordan through the new institutions they had created.

In this way, Jordan became a rentier state.. deriving most of its revenue from foreign governments, in return for renting out its services and resources - in particular its strategic position and mineral wealth... a colonial plan which subordinates the masses and stifles the nation’s own economic and political development.

Since then, Jordan’s ruling elites have outsourced much of their public policy decisions to international monetary, and aid organisations... which has resulted in unfair fiscal policies, in an absence of enough infrastructure for economic growth.

The tax law imposed by the International Monetary Fund shows that people will finance the government by 93% through tax revenues and service fees.

Also, “Income and sales tax revenues during the 2019 January to October period went up by 3.6 per cent to reach JD3.572 billion, showing an increase of JD123 million, from JD3.449 billion in 2018 - the Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD) said. Note- say Jordanian Dinar instead of JD- eg 3.572 Jordanian Dinars

This systemic corruption is considered normal by Jordan’s governors , who see no problem in the forbidden usury (Riba), and are willingly increasing the nation’s budget deficit... as international loans are only available after compliance with the dictates of the IMF.

In this way Jordan is effectively mortgaging itself, and pushing its people further into impoverishment, regression and hardship - with a lack of services, low economic growth and high inflation rates as well.

Similarly characterised by this failure and instability - the food and drug institute in Liwa Ain, Al Basha district, at the Balagh Health Directorate has admitted responsibility for a food poisoning incident, acknowledging its own failings in application, a shortage of food inspectors and corruption.

And in the face of the Corona pandemic.. by mimicking the flawed policies of the west that prioritise their economies and safeguard their travel industries.. Jordan has been negligent in implementing the Shari directives - leading to a higher number of cases, and the closures of masaajid, schools and public offices.

Despite the many loans and the high unjust taxes from the people... Jordan still faces major challenges in achieving its sustainable development goals, which include the elimination of hunger and inequalities.. achieving good health, well-being, and decent work. Estimating now that 0.7% of the population of Jordan live on $1.9 a day, while 13.5% live on $3.2 a day.
Likewise the Jordanian Women Solidarity Institute – Tadamon said as many as 1.35 million Jordanians live on 68 dinars ($96) a month, while more than 70,000 people live on 40.35 dinars ($56) a month.
And according to the Department of Statistics(DoS) in 2017-2018, the poverty rate among Jordanians reached 15.7%, which showed that over 1 million Jordanians are within the poverty range.
These statistics are further compounded by the effects of the current pandemic and the repressive tactics of the regime... making everyday life more difficult, as unemployment grows - and choices between food, education and staying warm are having to be made.

So the poverty that we have described is clearly not a natural occurrence, nor is it coincidental. Rather it is shown to be manufactured by global elites, who’s allies within our governments have enabled the subjugation of the masses through the unjust policies and devious Capitalist political theories that underpin them.

The poverty they inflict this way is a tool they use, to distract the masses from thinking beyond their basic needs and finding the real solutions in Islam - which has detailed laws, values and principles regarding taxation, development, instability, riba, aid and pandemics at the very least.

Jordan is a part of Bilad ash Sham and its reunification with Syria, Palestine and Lebanon is a vital issue that cannot be neglected any longer. In the face of the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, which will create more harm than counter the virus... it can be said that Jordan’s greatest risk is the incompetence of its own leaders - who seem intent on leading the small nation further down the path of dependence and stagnation.

So naturally the unification of these lands would be much better. Enabling the acquisition of wealth and resources to be generated and most importantly, distributed, more efficiently... leading to true economic growth - which in turn would attract and respond to fair investment and trade.

Also, the benefits of knowledge, shared and compared - allow for a nation to harness the creativity and rich, pure culture of its people.. So that opportunity isn't restricted only to the few... thus elevating the Islamic nation and its people in this life and the next.

Allah swt says ....“Seek the life to come by means of what God has granted you, but do not neglect your rightful share in this world. Do good to others as God has done good to you.” [Surah Al Qassas:77].
