Question:
Assalam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatuh
Our Ameer, May Allah bless your time, effort and knowledge.
I have a question: Are the evidences for the method to establish the Khilafah State (Caliphate) adopted by the Hizb definite?
Answer:
Wa Alaikum Assalam Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatuh
Overall the three stages are based on definite evidences:
The Prophet (saw) invited in secrecyat the beginning of the Dawah for three years approximately. He (saw) was culturing Muslims in Dar Al-Arqam Ibn Abi Al-Arqam.
Then He (saw) proclaimed (publically) the Dawah when this verse was revealed:
“Then declare what you are commanded and turn away from the polytheists” [Al-Hijr: 94].
This verse is a definite text with definite meaning, it affirms that the Prophet (saw) was calling in secret, and after it was revealed he (saw) proclaimed the Dawah publically, and he (saw) during this phase carried out intellectual and political struggle, and at the end of that phase he asked for the Nusra (material support).
The intellectual struggle, was exposing the falsehood of worshipping idols, and it put forward arguments against the Kuffar. Numerous verses show this, some include:
“Or were they created by nothing, or were they the creators [of themselves]?” [At-Tur: 35]
“He said, "Do you worship that which you [yourselves] carve * While Allah created you and that which you do?” [As-Saffat: 95-96]
“And Allah has said, "Do not take for yourselves two deities. He is but one God, so fear only Me.” [Al-Nahl: 51]
“Allah has not taken any son, nor has there ever been with Him any deity. [If there had been], then each deity would have taken what it created, and some of them would have sought to overcome others. Exalted is Allah above what they describe [concerning Him]” [Al-Mu’minun: 91]
“Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One * Allah, the Eternal Refuge *He neither begets nor is born *Nor is there to Him any equivalent.” [Al-Ikhlas: 1-4]
“Say, "O disbelievers *I do not worship what you worship * Nor are you worshippers of what I worship * Nor will I be a worshipper of what you worship * Nor will you be worshippers of what I worship * For you is your religion, and for me is my religion.” [Al-Kafirun: 1-6]
And many more verses.
The political struggle: verses were revealed that criticised their thoughts, leadership, and false ways, there are many verses that show this:
“May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he *His wealth will not avail him or that which he gained *He will [enter to] burn in a Fire of [blazing] flame *And his wife [as well] - the carrier of firewood *Around her neck is a rope of [twisted] fiber.” [Al-Masad: 1-5]
“Leave Me with the one I created alone *And to whom I granted extensive wealth * And children present [with him] *And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life] *Then he desires that I should add more * No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate *I will cover him with arduous torment * Indeed, he thought and deliberated * So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated *Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated *Then he considered [again]; *Then he frowned and scowled; *Then he turned back and was arrogant *And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others] *This is not but the word of a human being." *I will drive him into Saqar *And what can make you know what is Saqar? *It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], * Blackening the skins *Over it are nineteen [angels]” [Al-Muddathir: 11-30]
“And do not obey every worthless habitual swearer *[And] scorner, going about with malicious gossip *A preventer of good, transgressing and sinful, *Cruel, moreover, and an illegitimate pretender *Because he is a possessor of wealth and children, *When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." * We will brand him upon the snout” [Al-Qalam: 10-16] And many more verses.
The Prophet’s (saw) request for Nusra (material support) from the people of power and protection (Ahl Al-Quwa wal Man’a). He (saw) asked the support from strong tribes, and He (saw) sent Mus’ab (ra) to Madina, and the Ansar responded to him, and this led to the second pledge, Bay’ah of al-Aqaba.
He (saw) then established the first Islamic state in Al-Madina Al-Munnawara.
The evidences for these three stages are definite, however there are some details of these stages that were narrated through dhanni (indefinite) evidences, like the details of the culturing in secrecy and the details of the declaring of the Dawah and some details of the intellectual and political struggle, and the details of the Hijra and the establishment of the state after the second pledge of Aqaba. The evidences of some of these details are dhanni (indefinite) and sahih (correct). Anyone who studies our books and evidences will see clearly that the evidences for the three stages are definite, and the evidences for some details are dhanni, and they are all adopted by the process of Istinbat(extraction of evidences).
I ask Allah (swt) that this has made things clearer to you.
Your brother,
Ata Bin Khalil Abu Al-Rashtah
