China Continues its Suppression of the Muslims of Xinjiang

Over 150 people have been killed and over a thousand arrested as civil unrest broke out in Urumqi, the capital of China's Xinjiang province, as Chinese suppression of the Muslims of that region continues.

Uthman Badar, media representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir Australia, says in this regard,

"It is not surprising that the barbaric regime in China has indiscriminately killed, injured and randomly arrested Muslims in Xinjiang. It has a tarnished history of such suppression against minorities in general and against Muslims in particular. It is also not surprising that the Western media treats Chinese suppression of non-Muslims like the monks of Tibet or the Democrats of Tiananmen with one standard, and Chinese suppression of Muslims with another."

"We remind the Chinese of the force of the Muslim army of the Caliphate that it has felt in the past. We remind her of how the Muslim mujahideen liberated all of Central Asia in response to the oppression of the Tang Dynasty. We remind her of how the mujahideen, under Yaqoob Beg, liberated Turkestan in response of the oppression of the Manchu Dynasty. We remind her also that what she calls 'Xinjiang' is in fact East Turkestan and is Islamic land. Let the Chinese regime be under no delusions about this."

"The Muslims have never surrendered under suppression. They have always responded gallantly. China should not take undue advantage of the fact that the Muslims of Turkestan are today without a backing of the Caliphate. It should also not take advantage of the fact that the so-called Muslim states currently in existence, whose silence on this issue is deafening,  are all puppets of the West and do not represent Muslims or their interests. These realities are a passing phase in a much longer history from which China should take lessons."

'We call upon the Muslims of Australia to respond to this issue with the concern it deserves. Raise awareness on this issue, write to Chinese officials in Australia expressing your disgust and condemnation, and re-double efforts to re-establish the Caliphate which alone can properly protect the blood and honour of the Muslims the world over."
