The European-American Conflict Heralds the Imminent Return of the Khilafah (Caliphate)
(Translated)
By Ustadh Abu al-Mu’tazz Billah al-Ashqar
Trump’s America treats the European Union countries as it treats the Third World countries. It wants them to submit to its new policies, which are based on following orders. The era of “free-riding” is over, as Trump said during his first term. European countries that accepted to enter under the American security umbrella, since the end of World War II, must now pay for the protection over the last seven decades. America has formulated international laws, organizations, financial, economic and military institutions in a way that preserves its superiority over the rest of the world, including European countries. Now, America wants to impose its hegemony in a way that preserves its exclusivity, even if that leads to a bone-breaking battle with the countries of the European Union. The arrogance that Trump displayed in front of Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, is nothing but a message to the countries of Europe. This is the language that America will adopt with the entire world.
Since the end of World War II, America has been the undisputed master of the world. It has shaped the world in a way that preserves its military, political and economic superiority. It created the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank to maintain its economic hegemony. Before that, it had pledged to replace the dollar with gold. When it found that its arrogance was beginning to be accepted internationally, it broke the link that bound them and canceled its pledge. About two years later, it linked oil to the dollar, so the world became concerned with defending its dollar and its economic power. On the military level, it established NATO, which appeared to confront Russia and its socialist camp, but in reality, it kept Europe under its military hegemony after Europe accepted the Marshall Plan for itself. Under the so-called reconstruction of what World War II destroyed in Europe, it accepted to enter under American tutelage.
Thus, America has tightened its economic and military control over Europe, until the beginning of the third millennium, specifically during the subprime mortgage crisis, revealing that it had a firm grip on the entire global economy. It is sufficient to know that the SWIFT financial transfer system, which America sponsors, guarantees its supervision of all financial transfers in the world. If we add to this, from another perspective, the size and number of military bases in Europe, we understand where this hegemony comes from.
There is no doubt that America is still the leading state in the world, and that the Western countries’ opposition to it does not rise to the level of conflict except in metaphor, as it holds all sensitive issues, not just the Ukraine issue, the Middle East issue, and the Palestinian issue. However, what is noticeable now is that it no longer cares about its agents and allies. Since it took the position of the leading state in the world during World War II, it has been managing issues and implementing its policies under the table, without revealing its plans to accomplish its work. It orchestrates coups and regime changes, without anyone being aware of its projects or plans. However, its arrogance and haughtiness appeared when the administration of Bush the father, and then the son, took power, so it occupied Iraq and Afghanistan and struck Somalia. We can say that since the beginning of the nineties of the last century, America no longer hides its true face, which the founding fathers and great politicians were able to hide, for a long period of time.
The conflict between Trump’s America and Europe is no longer hidden. Trump is determined to treat European rulers as he treats Middle Eastern rulers. Europe, with its long colonialist history, realizes that pleasing America may have become an unachievable goal, and that its only option is to seek unity. This test case in Ukraine may not be the last.
On the political level, America seems to want to separate the Russian issue from the Chinese issue. This is what Kissinger, the former Secretary of State and National Security Advisor, recommended. America now considers its first enemy to be China, not Russia, even though it also considers Russia an enemy. It realizes that Russia has no ambitions outside its territory, and Ukraine is part of it. Therefore, it will solve the Ukrainian problem at the expense of Europe. The Europeans are well aware of this, and so they are calling for unity and standing by Ukraine. It is likely that solving the Ukrainian problem will be at the expense of Europe and Ukraine, and to please Russia, in exchange for America’s monopoly on China. In this way, America has achieved success in separating China from Russia, and it has also kept Russia as a bogeyman that keeps Europe at its mercy.
The nature of the capitalist system is self-interest, and cannot be shared between two, let alone three or four parties. This is why the battle over bones and skulls is the natural state that produced the First and Second World Wars. It does not respect values or morals, but rather its god is self-interest. America now sees itself as able to impose its hegemony and dictate to the entire world what it wants. This state of affairs is what is accelerating its demise and the emergence of a new ideology. which is Islam. Islam alone possesses a system of legislation and values that does not view the world as a ranch, farm or a herd of cattle. Instead Islam looks after the interests of all people and spreads goodness throughout the world. The political system in Islam, which is the Khilafah, is the only one capable of spreading justice, because it is from the Creator of humankind, glory be to Him.
