Ummah Needs Khilafah to Protect its Sanctities Not Defense Pacts to Protect Agent Rulers

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have entered into a landmark mutual defence agreement, under which any aggression against one state will be considered an attack on both. In the wake of the attack of the Jewish entity on Qatar on 9th September 2025 which targeted the senior political leadership of Hamas, this mutual defence agreement seems to be a response against the aggression of the Jewish entity. The mouthpieces of the regime in Pakistan are declaring it as an achievement and a sign of the success of Pakistan’s foreign policy. Also the regime is presenting it as they have been honored to assign the responsibility of protecting the holy sites of Makah and Madinah.

A defence agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia is not something new. Cooperation between the two states dates back to 1967 and deepened after the 1979 Grand Mosque seizure, when Pakistani special forces helped Saudi troops reclaim Masjid al-Haram. In 1982, the two sides institutionalised security ties through a Bilateral Security Cooperation Agreement that enabled Saudi troops to receive Pakistani training, advisory support and deployments on Saudi soil. At times, as many as 20,000 Pakistani troops were stationed in the kingdom, and Saudi Arabia became a key purchaser of Pakistani-made arms.

The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), a counter-terrorist military alliance between 43 member states in the Muslim world, was first announced by Saudi Arabian defence minister Mohammad bin Salman Al Saud (now the crown prince), on 15 December 2015. On 6th January 2017, the Former Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan General Raheel Sharif was named the IMCTC's First Commander, and he is still in command of this force. The alliance has a joint operations center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. But this so-called military alliance has never been used to quash the terrorism of the Jewish entity against the Muslims of Palestine and the region. Even now after Qatar was attacked by the Jewish entity, this alliance was not even commanded to start military drills.

As far as the jubilation being shown by the rulers of Pakistan for getting an opportunity to protect the two Holy Masajid is concerned, one wonders why they are not so passionate to liberate the third holiest site in Islam and the first Qibla, Masjid Al-Aqsa as well which has been under occupation since 1967 and disrespected by the Jewish occupation forces every other day, while Alhamdulilah Masjid Al-Haram and Masjid An-Nabawwi is not under occupation of the Jewish entity.

Since 7th October 2023 the Muslims of Pakistan have been demanding from their armed forces to mobilize in support of the Muslims of Gaza, for the liberation of Masjid Al-Aqsa and to erase the Jewish entity, but their demand is always rejected on the excuse of internal deteriorating situation in Khyber Pakhtunkwa and Baluchistan, the two provinces of Pakistan, and because of the threat of Indian aggression.  Neither the insurgency in these provinces has been eliminated, rather it increased, nor the Indian threat is diminished rather India is waiting for a suitable time to resume Operation Sindoor against Pakistan. So it proves that there has been no issue of capability of fighting on numerous fronts, the issue is always what the American World Order demands from Pakistan. It seems that Pakistan’s role in the security arrangement of the Middle East will benefit the US, so the Trump administration allowed Saudi Arabia and Pakistan to sign such a defence deal as it is inconceivable that slave leadership of both countries can take such a strategic step on their own, in line of the interests of the Muslims of the region.

Ideas like Muslim NATO presented by politicians and rulers are attempts to calm the anger of the Ummah on the inaction of Muslim rulers to assist their brothers and sisters in Gaza. Mutual defense pacts between Muslim rulers is nothing more than an attempt to secure their regimes. It is shameful that Muslim rulers can unify for protecting their governments but not for liberating Palestine and Gaza. Mutual Defense pacts between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have no value because this partnership will never be activated against US-Yahood (Jewish) alliance at all.

The basis of Muslim unity should be the Islamic Aqeedah. Muslim Ummah's salvation lies in unity and the only method of unifying the Ummah is the establishment of Khilafah (Caliphate) on the method of the Prophethood. Anything less than the establishment of the Khilafah will always be a deception just as the birth of the OIC and the Arab League have been a deception. Islam orders us to be a single Ummah with one single ruler, the Khaleefah (caliph), not a League of Nations.

[إِنَّ هَذِهٖ أُمَّتُكُمْ أُمَّةً وَّاحِدَةً وَّأَنَا رَبُّكُمْ فَاعْبُدُونِ]

“Verily this community of yours is a single community, and I am your Lord; so worship Me.” [TMQ Al-Anbiyah, 21:92]
