The Farce of the Victory of the Butcher of Gujarat, Modi, in the Indian Elections
News:
With all of India’s 640 million votes counted following a six-week-long election, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), together with its National Democratic Alliance (NDA), has won a majority, despite a sharp reduction in their seat tally compared with the 2019 elections.
Incumbent Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governing BJP won 240 seats, falling short of the 272-mark that indicates a majority in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India’s parliament, which has 543 seats in total. With its allies, the BJP has still secured 293 seats to win. (ALJAZEERA)
Comment:
The victory of Modi and his party in the elections was not due to a development agenda that would lift the country out of the extreme poverty, and wealth disparity, it suffers from. 90% of India’s population, of more than 1.4 billion, live on less than two dollars a day. His victory was also not due to a noble humanitarian agenda that would relieve the country from its state of divisive ethnic and religious fragmentation. Instead, Modi’s agenda was quite the opposite during the previous and subsequent electoral cycles. It was based on serving the capitalist cronies of the modern day Maharaja, at the expense of worsening poverty, and increasing the disparity between the rich and poor, through the use of modern technology to ramp up production and exploit the country’s abundant wealth, spreading corruption. Now the immense concentration of wealth in the hands of a select ethnic and sectarian segment of Indian society surpasses all countries of the world in this respect!
The victory of the Modi coalition was not through free and fair elections, in which what was best for the country and the interests of the people was chosen. It was not even close to that. Ethnic, sectarian and racial affiliation is what now drives voters in elections. This is in addition to vote rigging, voter manipulation and patronage politics that have become part of the democratic electoral system in India and in many other countries of the so-called democratic world. This is in light of the political ignorance and misinformation in the country, which the state and its institutions spread using various technologies, whose only concern is to manipulate the minds of voters and suppress voices opposing the regime, especially the voices of Muslims, who have an alternative civilizational project.
Only Islam will get India out of this miserable situation, which is deteriorating towards more misery and conflict between the segments of society. Muslims in India, led by those carrying the message of Islam, must adopt Islam as a civilizational alternative and political system. They must call on the people of the country to reject the false, superstitious beliefs that were fueled by English colonialism. They must call for the rejection of the capitalist system that made them all miserable, and adopt the great Islam, a belief and a system of life. They must expose the conspiracies of the West’s political agents within various political parties until all people become alienated from these conspiracies. The Muslims must adopt a strategy of calling for the Truth with all strength, confidence and determination. It is not a strategy of defense, trying to protect themselves from the tyranny of the regime.

“Invite to your Lord’s Way with wisdom and good advice, and debate with them in the most dignified manner. Your Lord is aware of those who stray from His path, and He is aware of those who are guided” [Surah An-Nahl: 125]
