The Rohingya are the Forgotten Ummah without the Khilafah
News:
On the 11th of August 2023, the BBC reported that 23 Rohingya Muslims died and 30 are missing after a boat carrying migrants escaping Myanmar's oppressive system sank. The bodies of the 23 Rohingyas fleeing for their lives from Rakhine state have been recovered after their boat sank. Thirty others are still missing, while eight people are reported to have survived the accident. The survivors said they were trying to reach Malaysia when their boat carrying more than 50 passengers foundered and was abandoned by its crew. Thousands of Rohingyas attempt the perilous sea journey to Malaysia or Indonesia every year. They are escaping the ethnic cleansing policies.
Comment:
Contrary to popular opinion, the oppression of our brothers and sisters in the Burmese region is not a recent matter. The persecution of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar dates back to at least the 1970s. Since then, the Rohingya people have been persecuted regularly by the government and Buddhist nationalists. The indecent violation of women and death by fire as entire villages are burnt to the ground has become the daily norm of the Muslim generations in Myanmar. The disturbing reality is that when they try to escape, they face greater danger in the unsafe waters of the ocean and then more harm from the racism of neighbouring regimes. They are not welcomed as they should be in the tradition of the Prophet (saw), who looked after any group seeking asylum. Instead, they are punished and put into overcrowded refugee camps like those in Bangladesh.
“Serve Allah, and join not any partners with Him; and do good- to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, those in need, neighbours who are near, neighbours who are strangers, the companion by your side, the wayfarer (ye meet), and what your right hands possess: For Allah loveth not the arrogant, the vainglorious” [4:36]
Those who died this week include 13 women and 10 men; all Rohingya Muslims will stand before Allah (saw) on the day of resurrection and ask for their rights from Muslim leaders who ignored their suffering. Oh Ummah of Mohammad (saw)! Do not be silent against accounting hose that have the responsibility to resume the authority of Islam in the world, least you be raised with the wrong doers!
