Pockets Deeper than our Imagination
News:
Pakistani politicians are legally bound to declare their assets before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to show transparency in their financial matters. This has given voters a glimpse into the bank accounts and property portfolios of their leaders after Election Officials revealed assets declared on candidate’s’ papers. (Source: thenational.ae)
Comment:
In the 71 years of Pakistan never did people see a leader whose personal riches ran out as he was busy focusing on establishing this country into a strong economy. The history of both elected and imposed Governments of Pakistan shows that whoever came into power built enormous assets while the common people were deprived of their basic necessities. People pay heavy amounts of direct and indirect taxes for the poorly provided services and low quality items. The contribution of the poorest 10 percent of the population of Pakistan was 17 percent of their total income through indirect taxes (on items) while the richest 10 percent contributed only 10 percent of their total income in the total indirect tax revenue. One example of how this tax is spent is that the daily expenditure of PM house is around Rs 2.3 million.
Agriculture lands, properties, luxury cars, horses, bank accounts declared by these politicians are insignificant to what they really own. According to a latest report of the Daily Mail, Mian Nawaz Sharif and his sons have an estimated £32 million of property at London’s swankiest addresses. All drained from the Muslim flesh and blood and the resources provided by Allah (swt) for this Ummah. Rulers, ex-rulers, rulers-to-be, all live lavishly, their children study in foreign universities, and their sick get treated in foreign hospitals while their people are told to conserve resources and work harder.
People of this Ummah need to understand that leadership is a position of trust and great responsibility, and should only be given to those who have ‘’Taqwa” with strong personality and are capable. Such people, when given responsibility to rule, bring betterment to the ones they rule instead of making their personal businesses grow. When Umar bin Abdul Aziz, after his oath-taking ceremony, was about to ride back after receiving the baiah as Caliph, he found the royal mounts waiting for him. “I do not need these,’’ said Omar. “My own mule will do for me. Sell these horses and deposit the proceeds in the public treasury.” He also sent the guard away saying that “I do not want to distance from my people’’. He refused all luxuries, saying: ‘’ sell them and deposit the money in the public treasury.’’ We all know the legacy Umar bin AbdulAziz left behind was because he truly played the role of the Deputy of the Messenger of Allah, answerable to Allah only.
People of the region have already elected Erdogan who lives in a palace worth more than 700 million dollars while Syrian immigrants rot in the tents and Palestinians are tortured right under its nose, while in Pakistan the choice is between Mian Nawaz Sharif who got votes in 2013 with the promise of getting Afia Siddiqui back and Imran Khan who criticised him for failure to get it done. None of these contestants seems to have it on their agenda any more. People of Pakistan need to know that this abandonment will grow further and reach whatever they are trying to protect till the time comes that they stand emptyhanded. So better to abandon these traitors first and in that even if we lose something that will not be a loss as we’ll be trading with the King of all kings. Allah Almighty.
