Graduating More Fighters from Rebel Movements is a Step towards the Quagmire of the Rapid Support Forces

On Saturday, March 9, 2024, Assistant to the General Commander of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Yasser Al-Atta, participated in the graduation of 1500 fighters from the Justice and Equality Movement under the leadership of Jibril Ibrahim, at the Olympic Stadium in Kassala. This participation by army leaders is not the first of its kind, as some army leaders have witnessed the graduation of new batches of fighters from rebel movements, which were held in 2020, under the so-called Juba Peace Agreement with the government. Despite the fact that this agreement was not based on justice and fairness, meaning it was not based on Islam but rather on power-sharing and participation in authority and wealth, the principle should be to integrate those deserving of integration into the army, and to demobilize the rest according to the agreement, rather than allowing them to graduate new batches of fighters!

This strange situation and peculiar behavior from the Assistant to the General Commander of the Armed Forces reminds us of what used to happen with the Rapid Support Forces, where General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the General Commander of the Army, participated in many graduations of forces that became a parallel force to the army. The result was the cursed war that engulfed the people of Sudan!!

This chaos in militarizing forces and strengthening armed movements outside the state's military institution is a harbinger of a disaster with dire consequences. In Islam, there are no isolated militias or private armed movements. Rather, the armed force under Khilafah Rashidah (rightly guided Caliphate) on the method of the Prophethood, which will return soon by the permission of Allah, is one unified force. Part of it is dedicated to specialized training to carry out internal security functions, which is the police force. The rest of the force constitutes the army of the Ummah, which protects its frontiers and carries Islam as a message of goodness and guidance to the world, engaging in jihad for the sake of Allah.
