Press Release
The War on Corruption Can Only Be Won By Replacing the Invalid Secular Capitalist Ideology
Kenya is currently reeling from mindboggling mega financial scandals involving billions of cash alleged to be looted from public coffers. Such scandals are a repetition of what transpired in the Uhuru’s administration in his first term of leadership. What is so painful is that they are happening at a time when the citizens are languishing from severe floods, deplorable sectors of education, health and general poor infrastructure etc.
Hizb ut Tahrir / Kenya, wishes to reiterate the following:
First, these latest scandals are not the first to be reported and will not be the last; such scandals have taken place in the past 54 years since ‘independence’ and they continue unabated. No senior government persons has ever being jailed and if jailing took place then it was based on a PR to massage the ego of the shouters. Since the looters are the ones who call shots in both the Prosecution and Judiciary offices.
Second, these latest wave of financial scandals are because of the distorted secular capitalist ideology whose viewpoint about life is anchored on benefit (material accumulation) to satisfy sensual needs. Hence, peoples’ lives are in full perpetual petty competition for materialism to quench their never-ending thirsty for wealth through every means possible at the expense of the public trust of the office they occupy.
Third, Kenyans at large must rise up and start to evaluate their deplorable and deliberately conditioned situations. In addition, they should ask themselves is there no way out of these perennial looting spree and other vices like social decay, never-ending amendments of man-made laws that keep haunting their lives into misery day in day out?
Fourth, we urge the people of Kenya especially thinkers and intellectuals wholeheartedly to study Islam as an ideology and as the alternative intellectual leadership for humankind. In their study, they should make an intellectual comparison between the secular capitalist ideology and the Islamic ideology in how they solve humanity’s problems and if the solutions proposed, are in conformity or contradict man’s nature. As an ideology, Islam combats the menace of corruption hence it curses all those who involve themselves in bribe and corruption. The responsibility and duty of fighting corruption is collective on all not certain individuals or commission. Islam demands the leader to take any serious action against anyone who involves in the graft regardless of his or her status in society.
Through these measures, Islam for thirteen centuries when Islam ruled half of the world, corruption cases were rare if any. Likewise, if the Khilafah (Caliphate) is reestablished on the method of Prophethood, the menace of corruption and other vices will be obliterated.
Finally, Hizb ut Tahrir is convinced of the radical change that Islam as an ideology proposes as remedies to the catastrophes such as corruption and political impunity witnessed within all secular capitalist societies including Kenya. We wish to remind the Kenyan society the Almighty Creator is happy with those who act on His commands and shun his prohibitions.
Contrary to that, nothing good comes out of that, hence, these scandals are examples of those bad.
