The Regime in Jordan Serving NATO's Colonial Objectives: A Renewed Attempt to Isolate Jordan from Its Islamic Ummah

The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced the establishment of a NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) Liaison Office in the Kingdom, which will contribute to strengthening mutual cooperation relations with the alliance. The ministry issued a joint statement with NATO regarding the decision to open the office in Amman. The statement reads: "At the NATO Summit in 2024 in Washington, the allies adopted a plan of action to enhance the cooperative approach in the Middle East and North Africa region to keep pace with the developments in the regional and global security landscape." The statement further explained that the role of the office will be to "enhance political dialogue and cooperation in areas of mutual interest between NATO and Jordan." It also aims to "achieve the desired progress in implementing partnership programs and activities, which include holding conferences, courses, and training programs in areas such as strategic analysis, emergency planning, public diplomacy, and cybersecurity."

NATO was established after World War II when 12 founding countries signed the NATO Treaty in 1949 with the aim of protecting European countries from the threat of the Soviet Union at that time. The alliance then began to play a significant role and activity in dealing with many global issues within a new strategy aimed at defending NATO's interests outside the geographic area it covers. After Moscow invaded Ukraine in 2022, Finland and Sweden joined the alliance, bringing the total number of its members to 32 countries.

NATO has established what are called partnerships and alliances with bloc understandings, such as the Middle East understandings and the Istanbul Alliance, as well as even advanced individual partnerships with some countries like Jordan, which achieve strategic interests for the alliance that has become a colonial tool in the hands of America. Its activity in building security partnerships and the increasing military presence of its members in the region is noticeable. The goals of this alliance have expanded to become a global tool in the hands of the West, led by America, which dominates its member states in their decisions and their wars against adversaries such as Russia and China, and mobilizes regional countries as partners and friends of the alliance to achieve the interests of the world's leading state. NATO's 2022 Strategic Concept identifies (terrorism) as the most direct threat to the alliance.

Regarding the role of the NATO office in Amman, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg stated that "Jordan is a long-standing and highly valued partner for NATO," noting that the NATO Liaison Office in Amman will elevate the bilateral partnership to a new level. The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that "the establishment of a NATO Liaison Office in Amman builds on nearly three decades of deep bilateral relations." Sam Warberg, the Regional Spokesperson for the US Department of State, noted in an interview with the Jordan News Agency on the sidelines of the NATO Summit that his country appreciates the vital role played by the Kingdom in general stability in the region. He emphasized that King Abdullah II is not only a friend of US President Joe Biden but also has friends in all branches of the US government, both at the federal level and in Congress.

In light of the statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the above political remarks, it is necessary to clarify the following points:

- While the genocide in Gaza continues with unprecedented brutality that breaks hearts, the Jordanian regime shamelessly and submissively strengthens political and military ties with Jordan's enemies in NATO. This alliance collaborates with the Jewish entity in its barbaric war that shames humanity.

- NATO is a colonial alliance hostile to Islam and Muslims. It has participated in wars against Muslims in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen. It is also an ally of the Jews and their illegitimate entity. It is impermissible to treat NATO as a friend or ally, nor is it permissible to open the country to it and engage in military and security cooperation, especially from its bases scattered throughout Jordan.

- Since its inception and since being assigned the rule in Jordan by Britain, and through its strategic cooperation with the United States and Europe, the regime in Jordan has worked to detach the country from its natural affiliation and historical and ideological heritage as part of the Islamic nation, making it a tool of servitude in the hands of colonial powers for their interests.

- Jordan does not need to cooperate with NATO, as it has no common enemies with NATO to justify military or political cooperation, except for the Jewish entity. The regime's attempts to scare the people of Jordan with the presence of enemies and its justification for strategic partnerships with NATO and America in the "war on terror" are mere fallacies. The true terrorism comes from America and its creations, and these are simply excuses for the regime to gain colonial approval to maintain its hold on power.

- Understanding the reality of NATO and the advanced partnership with it necessitates recognizing that the activities of military alliances on Muslim lands, including joint military training and exercises—such as the Eager Lion exercises in Jordan over the years, the use of airports and ports, and cybersecurity information exchange—provide this alliance and its member states with practical experience that translates into further killing and bloodshed of Muslims in the region and across all Muslim lands. This is an empowerment of the Ummah’s enemies, as well as a diminution of the supposed state sovereignty. Allah Almighty said:

[وَلَنْ يَجْعَلَ اللهُ لِلْكَافِرِينَ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ سَبِيلاً]

“and never will Allah give the disbelievers over the believers a way [to overcome them]. [An-Nisa:141].

O People of Jordan, O Muslims:

The regime in Jordan proves every day that it is not one of you and you are not one of it. It does not rely on you for its governance; rather, it depends on the kafir colonial powers of the West. It no longer cares to utilize all of Jordan's resources in partnerships with hostile alliances like NATO, or in friendships with the worst enemies of the Ummah like America and Britain, along with their military and political central agencies. The head of the regime spends long vacations engaging in economic and logistical partnerships and alliances that make it an indispensable system in the colonial war against Islam and the project of restoring the Islamic Khilafah (Caliphate).

O our People in Jordan, O Muslims:

The regime's attempts to scare you... the scenes of destruction you see in Gaza and Palestine, the ongoing genocide, and the claim that as long as you remain in partnership and silence regarding the regime's actions—whether its agreements with the Jewish entity or its alliances with America and Europe—you are safe and secure, are nothing but a cowardly, temporary scare tactic that does not deceive you. Allah Almighty says:

[أَلَيْسَ اللهُ بِكَافٍ عَبْدَهُ وَيُخَوِّفُونَكَ بِالَّذِينَ مِن دُونِهِ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ اللهُ فَمَا لَهُ مِنْ هَادٍ]

“Is not Allah sufficient for His Servant [Prophet Muhammad]? And [yet], they threaten you with those [they worship] other than Him. And whoever Allah leaves astray - for him there is no guide.” [Az-Zumar:36]. Don’t you see what a group of fighters in Gaza is doing in the face of the global war against them and the patience and steadfastness of the people of Gaza against the American-Jewish war machine? What would happen if our armed forces supported our brothers in Gaza, who have been calling for your help for ten months? Do you think the Jewish entity will continue to exist, or that America will sacrifice its soldiers for it? Or that the agent regimes in Muslim countries will remain oppressive over the nation without packing their bags to flee?

Allah Almighty said:

[وَلَا تَرْكَنُوا إِلَى الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا فَتَمَسَّكُمُ النَّارُ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاءَ ثُمَّ لَا تُنصَرُونَ]

“And do not incline toward those who do wrong, lest you be touched by the Fire, and you would not have other than Allah any protectors; then you would not be helped. [Hud:113].
