Shariah and Khilafah: Comprehensive Solution for Police Women's Jilbab

It is supposed to be no more reason for the National Police (POLRI) to postpone the allowance to wear headscarf (or people usually call it as jilbab) for policewomen, as everyone knows it is an obligation for every muslim woman. In this democratic system it is something legal to disobey even the obligation from Allah ta'ala. Some reasons are raised, one of them is the lack of budget. But then when the budget needed has been approved by the House Representatives on Wednesday (2/7), Police institution proposed a new reason that the allowance will be applied to 10,000 Muslimah policewomen when the Chief Police Regulation related to it has been published.

Previously, POLRI has shown some actions to hamper the implementation of Islamic Shariah. The appeal from police women who want their aurat covered has been rejected. Also the suggestion from Indonesia Ulema Council is ignored. Similarly the urge from prominent figures and organizations is not answered immediately. Instead, the chief of national police (Kapolri) stated bravely that obeying the rule of police women's uniform that doesn't cover aurat is logical consequence for Muslimah who chose to give contribution to country through Police institution. After the appeal getting bigger, POLRI allows police women to wear headscarves but soon it was cancelled because of the insufficient of uniform and budget.

Being responsible in directing people to correct solution for every problem, Muslimah Hizb ut Tahrir Indonesia states:

1. The difficulty faced by Muslimah policewomen to wear their headcrves is a real proof of the weakness democracy system that is based on freedom to supports seriousness for every Muslim to obey their religion rules. Meanwhile there are so many proofs show that democracy always gives chance and ease for various disobediences exist.

2. Obstacle shown by POLRI implies that there is sticking stigma that the obedience to Islamic sharia will hamper and harm. Now it is time for everyone to realize that Islamic Shariah in fact will be able to solve the government failure to fix national condition and creates clean and dedicated officers.

3. If the House of Representatives really represent the aspiration of people, they are supposed to respond not only the demand of Muslimah clothes and furthermore they follow up public opinion that demands sharia application in every aspect of life.

Muslims that are majority in this country should realize that the big problem does not only rely on the hamper of wearing jilbab for policewomen or the ban of female students to wear it in several regions. The application of democracy and capitalism system and the abandoned of Islamic sharia to regulate aspect of politic, law, economy, social and culture are the source of many problems. Thus let us strive to make Islamic sharia established in Daulah Khilafah "Caliphate" Islamiyah. Allah (swt) says:

[يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اسْتَجِيبُوا لِلَّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ لِمَا يُحْيِيكُمْ ۖ وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَحُولُ بَيْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَقَلْبِهِ وَأَنَّهُ إِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ]

"O you who have believed, respond to Allah and to the Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life. And know that Allah intervenes between a man and his heart and that to Him you will be gathered." [Al-Anfal: 24]
