When Doors Are Closed to the Hungry and Survival is Denied,
The True Face of the Egyptian Regime and its Henchmen Is Revealed
(Translated)
At a time when Gaza is enduring one of the most oppressive and brutal moments in history, where, in addition to death by bombardment, children are dying of hunger, women of grief, and the elderly of illness, Major General Khaled Mewaghar, Governor of North Sinai, made statements that contradict the simplest ethical and humanitarian values, and the requirements of Islamic brotherhood. He said:“If the people of Gaza reach a certain level of famine, they have three options: either go toward the Israeli side and face gunfire, throw themselves into the sea, or head to Egypt—which is impossible.”
These are words that reflect an inhumane official stance unbecoming of a public official in a Muslim country, worse yet, they represent a political crime against our brothersand sisters in Gaza, who have been enduring shared suffering under a joint siege imposed by the Jewish entity and the Egyptian regime for more than 18 years.
The Egyptian regime has long promoted the idea that it provides support and relief to the people of Gaza and stands by them in the face of aggression. Yet Mewaghar’s statements strip away this mask completely, exposing the true face of Egypt’s official policy toward Gaza: no support, no compassion, and not even permission for the desperate or hungry to pass through! The matter has reached the point of labeling the entry of Gazans into Egypt as “impossible,” as if they were enemies.
These statements by the governor cannot be viewed separately from the current political context in which Egypt’s decisions are subordinated to the will of the United States, which caters to the desires of the Jews. The siege on Gaza is not merely a decision by the Jewish entity; it is a joint operation executed with the Egyptian regime under direct American support, aimed at breaking the will of the people of Gaza, forcing them to surrender, and subjugating the entire Ummah into despair and hopelessness.
Mewaghar’s statements accurately reflect an official strategy that views Gaza as a security burden rather than a religious obligation. It promotes a culture of demonizing the people of Gaza in the public’s mind, portraying them as a "potential threat" that must be prevented from entering Egypt at any cost, as if they were a plague or invaders, not brothers in faith nor rightful claimants to a just cause. Their cause is the cause of the entire Ummah, not theirs alone. The land of Gaza, and all of Palestine, is akharaji land belonging to the entire Ummah, and its liberation and protection is an obligation upon the whole Ummah, foremost among them the people and army of Egypt, as they are the closest and most capable.
When an official openly declares that the hungry are barred from entering his country, knowing they may die if they don’t, this constitutes a full-fledged crime. And while the corrupt judiciary in Egypt may not hold him accountable,Allah (swt) will question him on the Day of Judgment, and history will not forgive him. The Prophet (saw) said: «وَأَيُّمَا أَهْلُ عَرْصَةٍ أَصْبَحَ فِيهِمْ امْرُؤٌ جَائِعٌ فَقَدْ بَرِئَتْ مِنْهُمْ ذِمَّةُ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى»“If a man goes hungry in a community, the covenant of Allah is lifted from them.”
This hadith obliterates all the excuses of regimes that claim “neutrality” or “political considerations.” If the people of Gaza are today dying of hunger, and Egypt’s doors are closed in their faces, and food and medicine are denied to them—then Allah’s covenant is lifted from these regimes, and from anyone who conspires with them, remains silent about their actions, or justifies them—be it scholars, media figures, or politicians. Such people are partners in betrayal, and Allah’s covenant is lifted from them.
O People of Gaza:Be patient and steadfast. You are upon the truth. You are the ones standing firm, inribatuntil the Day of Judgment. Allah will not waste your jihad, and your blood will not be shed in vain.
O People of Egypt, O People of Kinana:Know that Allah will ask you about Gaza, and about your country whose borders are closed to its people, and about your silent complicity in their siege and starvation. Therefore, hasten to break the siege. Gaza today does not only need statements of sympathy or mere relief convoys—it needs armies to march, liberate, and cleanse it of the Jews.
“This [Qur'an] is notification for the people that they may be warned thereby and that they may know that He is but one God and that those of understanding will be reminded.” [Surat Ibrahim: 52].
