Press Release
Women Members of Hizb ut Tahrir Organized a Historic International Conference Entitled: "The Khilafah: A Shining Model for Women Rights and Political Role"
(Translated)

Hizb ut Tahrir organized an international conference for women in Tunisia on Saturday, 10/03/2012, entitled, "The Khilafah "Caliphate": A Shining Model for Women's Rights and Political Role". The conference, which began at nine am and continued until six thirty pm, featured sixteen speeches, in addition to comments by members of the audience. There were video addresses by women who could not attend, due to denial of a Tunisian visa, including many documentaries were featured. The conference commenced with an audio recording of a speech by the Ameer of Hizb ut Tahrir, Ata ibn Khalil Abu Ar-Rashta (may Allah protect him). He described the woman, "She is the nucleus in the Islamic State, in terms of care and protection...." He also said, "The Khaleefah would carry her provision on his back if she faced hunger; and he would lead an army to rescue her if she sought help; responding to ‘ya-Mu'tasimaah' if she cried." And also he said, "This is the woman in Islam: a da'wah carrier, a supporter of the Prophethood, steadfast on the Truth, the first martyr and the first doctor in Islam, the scholarly jurist, the brilliant politician. Nurtures the child and plays with her, while simultaneously she elects the ruler and holds him accountable. She is the master of her actions, and an honor that must be protected." He concluded with, "I ask Allah the Almighty for your conference, for your International Women's Conference on Khilafah "Caliphate", titled The Khilafah "Caliphate": A Shining Model of Women's Rights and Political Role for its success and to make your next gathering under the banner of ‘Al-Uqaab'; the banner of ‘ La ilaha illallah Muhammad ur Rasoolullah... so that you have the reward and victory twice: The first is for your work for the Khilafah "Caliphate" under difficult conditions, and secondly that you become witness to the Khilafah "Caliphate" once established, where it shines over the earth with its light; indeed this is not for Allah a great task".

Furthermore the conference director, Sister Nesrine Boudhafri, stated in her speech, "Allah (swt) blessed the woman and created her a mother to bestow the Heavens beneath her feet, a sister or daughter worthy of sacrificing for, or a wife to form a loving compassionate relationship in the light of purity and virtue parting on good terms from this Earth only to be united in delight in the Jannah." Adding, "...that today because of the neglectful unjust policy of the Muslims' rulers, who are abide to the West, Muslim woman lingers in the shadows behind the other women of the world. She is described as ignorant and backward. While during the time of the Khilafah "Caliphate", she surpassed all the women of the world by hundreds of light-years...While Europeans were debating whether a woman possessed a soul or not, Muslim women enjoyed positions of being judges, (Qadiat al-Hisba), physicians, and politicians."

The concluding speech was delivered by the representative of the Central Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir, Dr. Nazreen Nawaz. She indicated, "Hardship, indignity, oppression, poverty, repression, injustice, and misery have been the recurrent theme for this Ummah and its daughters over the past eight decades." She pointed out that Hizb ut Tahrir embodies the required qualities and components to transform a vision of real change from an idea to a tangible reality citing"the Hizb:

1. is established on the basis of Islam.

2. is a successful Hizb since it possesses a clear vision for change.

3. is a sincere party that does not falter nor compromise.

4. has a comprehensive and clear political awareness.

5. possesses a clear and correct strategy to achieve real change "

And finally she extended an invitation to Muslim women saying, "You are the inheritors of the legacy of great Muslim women of the past who were fighters against oppression and vanguards of truth, justice, and Islam. Women like Khadija (ra), Sumaya (ra) the first martyr of Islam, Umm Omara (ra) who shielded the Prophet (saw) with her own body at the battle of Uhud. As your sisters in Islam, we call you to follow the footsteps of these great women...and working with us in Hizb ut Tahrir to establish the great system, the system that will burn away corruption, Kufr, and oppression and establish in its place a new dawn of justice and dignity for this Ummah and its daughters."

The Hizb organized a press conference before the main conference in which the official chair of the conference Sister Nesrine Boudhafri and representative of the Central Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir, Dr Nazreen Nawaz, as well as the spokeswoman of Hizb ut Tahrir in Indonesia, Sister Iffah Rochman, answered questions from the media.

The conference witnessed the presence of politicians, writers, academics, journalists, teachers, leaders of society and representatives of women's organizations as well as other notable women from all over the world. They came to project a detailed vision about the meaning of the establishment of the Khilafah "Caliphate" state for the status, lives and rights of women.

The attendees at this conference were from many countries including Tunisia, Yemen, Turkey, Libya, Jordan, Oman, Sudan, Somalia, Lebanon, Egypt, Indonesia, and Europe amongst others. The Tunisian embassies prevented the delegations from Sudan and Yemen, Palestine and Jordan from entering Tunisia and refused to issue visas, without a stated reason rather under false pretences!

This conference came after a global campaign that was announced a month ago to highlight many practical solutions to the political, economic and social problems that women in the Muslim world and elsewhere suffer from, as well as to refute the allegations and fabrications about the persecution of women by Islam!

Throughout the conference, a video broadcast was presented describing the status of women since the days of Jahiliyyah, to the emergence of Islam and throughout the Khilafah "Caliphate" period, until the demise of her status after the destruction of the Khilafah "Caliphate".

Hizb ut Tahrir's members confirmed that the ruling system of Islam is the only model that preserves the dignity of women and provides women's rights, in deed, not in mere word. They concluded the conference with the invitation, "to all women who believe in the need for real change to contribute and work to establish this shining model that will bring dignity, security and justice for the mothers and daughters in the Islamic world, and which will stand as a beacon to preserve and secure the rights of all women globally".

We bring to your attention that you can watch segments of the conference events on the official Hizb ut Tahrir website.
