The Mirziyoyev Regime in Uzbekistan Follows in the Footsteps of the Perished Karimov, in Persecuting the Shabab of Hizb ut Tahrir and Confronting Islam

The security agencies in Uzbekistan have re-arrested twenty-three members of Hizb ut Tahrir. The agencies commenced trial procedures against these Shabab (shebaab) on 9 May 2024, based upon the same charges for which they were tried, during the time of the fallen tyrant Karimov. The Shabab had already spent nearly twenty years, under imprisonment and torture, from between 1999-2000 CE. This is despite all the claims made by Mirziyoyev years ago, in which he asserted that he was against torture and violence against detainees. He claimed that he was on the path to consolidating freedom of thought and belief, and combating arbitrary detention. However, the recent behavior of the Uzbek regime, under his leadership, shows that he is following in the footsteps of the perished Karimov, in being hostile to Islam and all those who call for Islam. The regime is persecuting the Shabab of Hizb ut Tahrir using the same oppressive and brutal methods of its criminal predecessor, the regime of Karimov.

The Shabab were arrested arbitrarily, and in barbaric and brutal ways. They were subjected to severe torture. They were forced to confess to fabricated charges. They had bags put on their heads. They were exposed to severe pressures. The Shabab were forced to sign a pre-prepared confession, under the threat of bringing the wife of one of them to the office, and raping her. Another threat was to bring a son, who is studying abroad, to Uzbekistan through the embassy. Yet another threat was to bring the son of another Shab to the Internal Affairs Office, to force him to sign a confession. There was also a threat to torture another Shab with electricity. Sixteen other Shabab were also arrested in the regions of Tashkent, Andijan, Hawqan, Karshi and Samarkand. They were brought to Tashkent and investigated, on charges related to committing violence and terrorism!

The accusation of committing terrorism and violence levelled against the Shabab of Hizb ut Tahrir is clear slander and lies. Hizb ut Tahrir and its Shabab neither commit violence nor terrorism. The Hizb has never done so, since its founding in 1953 CE. The Hizb does not reject violence and terrorism through fear of the regimes, or through appeasing the oppressive regimes. Instead, it rejects violence and terrorism because it worships Allah (swt) in its methodology to resume the Islamic way of life. The Hizb strictly adheres to the intellectual-political methodology followed by the Messenger of Allah (saw). Consequently, all the repressive police states in Muslim countries, and even those in the West, have been unable to prove charges of terrorism and violence against Hizb ut Tahrir and its Shabab, despite their repeated attempts. However, it is the hatred, that overflows from the hearts of the criminal rulers, which drives them to avert their eyes and ears, out of a desire to take revenge on the carriers of the coming Islamic project, the project of the Second Khilafah Rashidah (Rightly-Guided Caliphate) on the Method of the Prophethood. Yet, the rulers of Muslims, under the guidance of their masters, the leaders in crime and colonialism within America, Britain, Russia, France, and Germany, are fighting the project of Islam. Their masters are trampling on their laws and ideologies, that they pay lip service to, and market to the world, such as freedoms, democracy and human rights, when it comes to confronting the Dawah campaign of the Shabab of Hizb ut Tahrir.

Mirziyev’s return to the approach of oppression, arrest, and torture, in the footsteps of the perished Karimov, indicates that the matter is an implementation of the desires and policies of the colonialist leaders in Russia and America. It also indicates that our rulers, as usual, do not have the right to decide, and are nothing but agents of colonialism.

We in Hizb ut Tahrir warn the Mirziyev regime against returning to the policy of oppression and brutality, that Karimov’s regime previously used against Islam and its carriers. This is the path of criminals and will not benefit the regime. Instead, it will increase the Ummah’s discontent with the regime, and hasten its demise. The Islamic Ummah is now looking forward to the day when it will be liberated from colonialism, and is returned to the Law of its Lord, in terms of constitution, law, and life. The Ummah today is closer, than ever before, to achieving its goal and aspiration. Mirziyev must release our Shabab immediately, and without delay. It must stop persecuting those who carry the Message of Islam. It must cease hostility against the project of Islam. It must learn from those who preceded it. The conclusion will be in favor of the righteous, even if all those of kufr were gathered together against them. Allah (swt) will certainly support His Deen, even if that was so after a while. Allah (swt) said,

[كَتَبَ اللهُ لَأَغْلِبَنَّ أَنَا وَرُسُلِي إِنَّ اللهَ قَوِيٌّ عَزِيزٌ]

“Allah has decreed, “I and My messengers will certainly prevail.” Surely Allah is All-Powerful, Almighty.” [TMQ Surah Al-Mujadillah 58:21].
