Press Release
By Abolishing the Constitution of ‘72 and its Foundation, Secularism, People are united in Running the Country Based on the Islamic Constitution

Last Tuesday (October 22, 2024), the anti-discrimination student movement demanded immediate cancellation of the 1972 constitution and the declaration of the 'Proclamation of the Republic' in the spirit of the July Revolution and mass uprising. For this purpose, by categorically calling only the so-called democratic parties to form a national unity, they have ignored the demands and aspirations of the people of this country for the Islamic rule. As you must know, in a survey by the American research institute Pew Research Center, 82 percent of the Muslims in Bangladesh are in favor of Shari'ah law. The entire nation has witnessed that the students of reputed schools-colleges-universities have raised the demand for Islamic rule. They have reflected their emotions by taking the flag of Kalema in their hands; therefore, any attempt to settle country’s politics by ignoring Islam is a suicidal step. Indeed, as we all know, resisting the emergence of Shari'ah rule in Muslim lands is the core policy of the West's “war on Islam” in the name of “war on terror”. The ousted Hasina regime, worked as a tool of the West to wage the “war on Islam,” took a stand against the country's larger population and repressed the Muslims of this country, and this is one of the core reasons for the people's uprising against the Hasina regime. Therefore, we have to abolish the constitution of 1972 and the foundation of such constitution i.e. secularism from our society and state, and unite on the basis of Islam, because, secularism and democracy are contrary to the beliefs, thoughts and emotions of the people, and are the source of discrimination, corruption and all oppression.

America boasted itself as the advocates of democracy and human rights, but the slogans of her people stirring up 'we are 99%' and 'black life matters' have proved that the Democratic-Capitalist system is discriminatory and have failed. And Britain, another liberal democratic country, is mired in such social divisions and political crisis that none of their governments are able to complete their term. So, if the new constitution is written on the way of America and Britain, how will discrimination be removed from the society and the state? How will this constitution fulfill the aspirations of the people? Allah (swt) warns us about those Muslims who turn to the Western Kafirs despite the solution of everything in Islam:

“Have you not seen those who claim to have believed in what was revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what was revealed before you? They wish to refer legislation to Taghut, while they were commanded to reject it; and Satan wishes to lead them far astray” [Surah an-Nisa': 60].

What is the new Bangladesh that the people want to see? People will not accept a constitution that will not fulfill their aspirations and they will never unite under that constitution. The general public want a comfortable life, just rights, security, and justice from the laws. The youths want employment and a secure future. The workers want their fair wages. The aware people want rulers who are not agents of a foreign country and not corrupted, and a sovereign country that is free from foreign aggression and influence. These demands of the people have been reflected in various movements and struggles. In the last five decades, there have been various movements in Bangladesh, seventeen constitutional reforms, changes in the faces of the ruling classes, cosmetic development, but none of the aspirations of the people have been fulfilled. The Islamic constitution has guaranteed for all, irrespective of religion-color-race, the basic needs i.e. food-clothing-shelter of every citizen along with their rights i.e. education-health-security and justice. The Islamic constitution has forbidden the privatization of the country's oil-gas-power sector and ordered to expel of domestic and foreign capitalist companies from this energy sector, and ordered these wealth to be spent as public property on public welfare under state management. It has prohibited all agreements with the enemy countries like US-Britain-India, including military agreements that dominate over us. Islam ordered to strengthen the military to protect the country's sovereignty by setting up defense-oriented heavy industries. Therefore, only the Islamic constitution is capable of fulfilling the aspirations of the people. In this regard, Hizb ut Tahrir has presented the "Constitution (Draft) of the Khilafah State" with detailed explanations that is drafted based on the Qur'an-Sunnah. Above all, the people are united in governing the country with the Islamic constitution, and Hizb ut Tahrir is fully prepared to govern the country with this constitution.

O People, especially the Revolutionary Students-Citizens! Reject any attempt to preserve the continuity of the failed secular-capitalist system of the West by making some cosmetic changes in the name of constitutional reform or rewriting. You must strengthen the demand for the Islamic constitution and Islamic system. Unite under the leadership of Hizb ut Tahrir in establishing the Khilafah (Caliphate) on the method of the Prophethood, and call upon the people of power to transfer the power to Hizb ut Tahrir to fulfill the people's aspirations.

[كُنْتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ]

“You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind …” [Surah Ali-Imran: 110].
