 Press Release
“Looting Frenzy” is yet Another Reason to rid Ourselves of Democracy and Implement Islam through its Ruling System, the Khilafah (Caliphate)

Yet another wave of wholesale and systematic plundering of people’s properties and resources by the powerful ruling elites of Awami League (AL) has left the country rattled and agitated. Several mega scams have hit Bangladesh hard in a week. First we heard about 963 kilograms of gold kept in Bangladesh Bank’s vault that were turned into mixed metals; then, another scam in Janata Bank of Tk 51.3 billion came to fore, and finally the mysterious disappearance of 1.45 lakh tonnes of coal (worth over BDT. 227 crore) from the yard of Barapukuria Coal Mining Company. Everything from the banking system to public administration are now being based on subterfuge. It is as clear as daylight that a powerful quarter with vested interests are behind this ‘spontaneous looting’ under the auspices of this corrupt government.

And now, they are so much into this unceasing looting spree that everything is being done with the lights on, as if there is nothing to hide at all. They are joyfully plundering public wealth with the confidence that they will be well taken care of in due course.

Hence, we saw that even after the series of scams by the state-owned banks, the Awami League government kept Tk 2000 crore of taxpayers’ money for bailout of these banks. Likewise, the default loans in the banking sector of Bangladesh now stands at Tk 111,347 crore (as of April 2018), which was only Tk. 35,000 crore in the early 2009.

We can expect many more scams in the coming days as because since 2009, only the ruling party associates were being appointed in the banks’ Boards of Directors to institutionalize the looting of the people’s money.

O People of Bangladesh! It is now evident that the issue-based movements to protect oil, gas and other natural resources without calling for the change of the ruling system of democracy will be in vain. The current ruling system backed by the corrupt capitalists has measurably and repeatedly failed to protect the public resources.

The root cause for the bank, gold, and coal scandal is the same - that is, ‘non-accountable and irresponsible’ governance under the man-made democratic system.

Government-backed ‘looting mania’ is exactly what is supposed to be happening in Bangladesh. What we are experiencing now is the inevitable consequence of secular democracy where certain elites come to power by way of the ballot box, govern in the name of people and eventually end up in deceiving and looting the very same people. When ‘fear of Allah’ is replaced with ‘allegiance to people’ and Hukm Shara’i (Divine Rule) is substituted by some man-made whims and desires, such looting and other disastrous situations are bound to happen. Indeed, we will continue to face such terrible situations under the treacherous blood-sucking rulers as a result of our failure to resume the Islamic way of life and not for working to re-establish the Khilafah Rashidah (Rightly Guided Caliphate), which will implement the Deen based on the method of the Prophethood.

O Muslims! Work to re-establish the Khilafah Rashidah, and support this call. Know that Hizb ut Tahrir is beside you and our courageous workers will never rest until the complete liberation from this man-made subservience has been accomplished to bring back the Khilafah, which can only achieve your well-being and prosperity.

( وَلَيَنۡصُرَنَّ اللّٰهُ مَنۡ يَّنۡصُرُهٗ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَقَوِىٌّ عَزِيۡزٌ‏)

“..Allah will most certainly help those who will help Him. Verily Allah is Immensely Strong, Overwhelmingly Mighty” [Surah Al-Haj, Ayah 40]
