The End of U.S. and NATO Military Occupation: An Opportunity to Confront Soft Colonialism and Move Toward a Caliphate Based on the Method of Prophethood!
(Translated)
Four years ago, on August 31, 2021, the two-decade-long military occupation of Afghanistan by U.S. and NATO forces came to an end, as the last American soldier withdrew the country at midnight. This was mainly because of pivot of the Americans towards Indo-pacific, to slow down the progress of China. The Muslim countries, especially the Mujahid People of Afghanistan had become a headache to the Americans and a distraction from this new strategy. We extend our congratulations on this historic achievement and monumental day to all Muslims, especially to the people of Afghanistan, the Dawah carriers, and Mujahideen.
These four years could have been a historic opportunity for the full implementation of Islam and the beginning of a profound transformation in Afghanistan. Just as the Islamic State in Madina, within its first four years, laid the foundations of the Ummah, defined clear principles for domestic and foreign policy, and established Islam’s presence on the global stage. The ruling system in Afghanistan, too, could have used these crucial moments to draw up a clear and distinct framework for its internal and external policies, implementing Islam not as a slogan, but as a comprehensive system and lifestyle across governance, economy, education, judiciary, and foreign affairs.
Yet unfortunately, this great opportunity was not utilized properly. Instead of full implementation, Islam has been applied selectively and gradually based on subjective preferences and within the frameworks inherited from the previous republic regime and the structure of the modern nation-state. As a result, no clear or distinctive features of an Islamic state have been outlined; foreign policy has not been grounded in Dawah and Jihad; and the Ummah has not witnessed the signs of a genuine Islamic transformation in Afghanistan. On the contrary, the focus has shifted toward achieving internal stability within national borders, seeking recognition from the international order, and balancing between global powers—an approach that, in the long run, weakens the legitimacy of the system.
Although the military occupation has ended, the soft colonialism remains ever-present, an even more insidious form of domination that penetrates politics, economy, and thought. It subjugates nations from within, without the noise of war or military invasion. This form of colonialism offers the illusion of independence, undermines the Ummah’s will, and obstructs the full implementation of Islam. Historical experience shows that nations are more often brought down by soft power than by military force. Therefore, confronting this challenge requires vigilance, political awareness, the expulsion of foreign NGOs and embassies, and total adherence to Islam.
In conclusion, we sincerely remind our mujahid brothers that the opportunity is not yet lost. Existing opportunities must be seized wisely, and this historic victory must be turned into a stepping stone and bridge for the establishment of theKhilafah Rashidah(Righteous Caliphate) upon the Method of Prophethood. A Caliphate that unites the Ummah, uproots colonialism, and carries the message of Islam to the world. Otherwise, there is a real fear that today’s gains may be lost. Similar to the past, Afghanistan might once again fall into the abyss of colonialism and weakness.
As Allah the Almighty has warned:
[وَإِن تَتَوَلَّوْا يَسْتَبْدِلْ قَوْمًا غَيْرَكُمْ ثُمَّ لَا يَكُونُوا أَمْثَالَكُمْ]
“And if you turn away, He will replace you with another people, and they will not be like you.”[Surah Muhammad: 38].
