UNAMA is Dealt with Affection while Muslim Dawah Carriers Are Responded with Suppression?!

On July 9, 2024, the Office of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) published a report in which the 3-year performance of the Afghan government regarding ‘human rights’ has been inspected. In this 30-page report, UNAMA has strongly condemned and criticized the activities of the Ministry of Propagation of Virtue and Prohibition of Vice, calling its practices a violation of human rights. In the report, it has been pointed out that issues like the imposition of “wearing Hijab, banning women from appearing in movies, requiring women to travel with dependents (Muharram), preventing the celebration of Valentine’s Day, commanding the congregational prayers, and punishments...” are considered as the violation of human rights and freedom.

We consider this report issued by UNAMA as an obvious assault on Islamic rules and values and we condemn it in the strongest possible terms. Such assaults on Islam and spread of Fitnah (sedition) in society take place at a time while UNAMA has its official office open in Afghanistan and its officials are provided top protocols during meetings with the government officials, and even the security forces of the ruling regime protect the lives of its employees and official offices with top security measures.

Unfortunately, the position of the ruling regime against this report seems extremely flimsy and reprehensible. When the initial draft of this report was shared with the Ministry of Propagation of Virtue and Prohibition of Vice, this ministry insensitively held itself accountable to UNAMA and responded to the assaults and insults of this organization with a soft tone – their justifications are also attached to this report. In fact, UNAMA promotes liberal values and provides US’ interests in Afghanistan, and this organization tries to influence the Islamic identity of Mujahideen by publishing such reports.

UNAMA shamelessly considers the propagation of virtue (Amr Bil Maruf) to be cruel and against human rights, but the government shows tolerance, flexibility and expediency towards them. However, when Hizb ut Tahrir has been acting based on the principles of Amr Bil Maruf, the dawah carriers of Hizb are not only dealt with harsh brutality but are also thrown into prisons and tortured under the guise of spreading ‘division and fitnah’. Why does the government take a weak stance against UNAMA’s blatant insults while suppresses the Islamic call of Hizb ut Tahrir?!

[مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَالَّذِينَ مَعَهُ أَشِدَّاءُ عَلَى الْكُفَّارِ رُحَمَاءُ بَيْنَهُمْ]

“Muhammad is the Messenger of God, and those who are with him are hard against the unbelievers, merciful one to another.” [Al-Fath:29].

Ignoring the dangerous activities of UNAMA and other international organizations in Afghanistan in exchange for some material interests is a big political mistake that will bear dire consequences. The rulers of Afghanistan should have a strong and clear position towards the United Nations, its missions and entities because these organizations are spy agencies and political tools of the Western powers whose activities are against Islam and Muslims, so they should be stopped as soon as possible.

[وَلَن تَرْضَى عَنكَ الْيَهُودُ وَلاَ النَّصَارَى حَتَّى تَتَّبِعَ مِلَّتَهُمْ قُلْ إِنَّ هُدَى اللهِ هُوَ الْهُدَى وَلَئِنِ اتَّبَعْتَ أَهْوَاءهُم بَعْدَ الَّذِي جَاءكَ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ مَا لَكَ مِنَ اللّهِ مِن وَلِيٍّ وَلاَ نَصِيرٍ]

“Never will the Jews or Christians be pleased with you, until you follow their faith. Say, “Allah’s guidance is the only ˹true˺ guidance.” And if you were to follow their desires after ˹all˺ the knowledge that has come to you, there would be none to protect or help you against Allah.” [Al-Baqara: 120]
