As Iran-US war reshapes the Middle East, for America’s “New Middle East,” Pakistan finds itself in a familiar, but limiting role: acting as an intermediary between Washington and Tehran. Much of the domestic discourse has celebrated this diplomatic positioning. However, this moment demands a more uncomfortable question:

In this short article, we aim to draw the attention of young people to how to approach this topic and understand it correctly.

We can see a discussion surrounding the shift in policy within Western states, specifically a rise in authoritarianism and the precedent being set by government reactions to citizens’ protests of the Palestinian genocide. The fear is that this is will give rise to a more authoritarian and less democratic rule in the future, giving governments the power to circumvent the rights that a democracy is supposed to afford its citizens.

The war of America against Iran has revealed one of the truths that wars tend to expose, for war is the moment of naked truth in which hidden and concealed strategic and geostrategic realities come to light. War is the most effective and eloquent testing ground for revealing such matters.
