The 61-year rule of Barisan Nasional (BN) had collapsed and now replaced by a new coalition of Pakatan Harapan (PH) led by the ex-Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad. The leaders of North and South Korea held a breakthrough summit meeting on Friday 27 April 2018 at the border village of Panmunjom in their demilitarised zone, and issued a declaration calling for “Peace, Prosperity and the Unification of the Korean Peninsula” and committed themselves to work for the “complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula”.
