The Shariah Obligation Upon the Ummah Is to Spread Islam Through Dawah and Jihad Until It Prevails Over All Other Religions

The mission of making the Deen dominant is not limited by nationalistic borders, nor can it be defined within the secular international order. Islam came to be a global, universal reference. It is the Shariah obligation of the Ummah to spread it through Dawah and Jihad until it prevails over all other religions. However, since the nineteenth century onward, especially after the abolition of the Khilafah (Caliphate), with the spread of the nation-state order and the adoption of defensive policies, the Islamic Ummah has been stripped of its offensive initiative.

Meanwhile, colonialists continued their invasions under the banner of peace and stability, occupying their lands, as we witness today in Gaza, whose people are being slaughtered before the eyes of the world. Yet, the rulers of Muslims are limited to guarding nationalistic borders and respecting restrictive treaties. Constrained by national defensive policies, they chose silence and resorted to Western political concepts, reframing this passivity and retreat as wisdom, interest, and political acumen!

The West is now once again seeking to achieve its colonialist goals under the banner of offensive warfare. Is the Islamic Ummah prepared to transcend nationalistic borders, strive to aid the oppressed, and restore Jihad, not just in self-defense against occupation, but in its broader sense as a foreign policy approach, to the agenda?

Therefore, we must abandon “balance of power” defensive policies that focus on the economy, and revive the correct path by establishing the Khilafah Rashidah (Rightly-Guided Caliphate) on the Method of Prophethood. It alone bases its foreign policy on Dawah and Jihad, so that Islam may spread throughout the world and dispel strife. Allah (swt) said, ﴿وَقاتِلُوهُمْ حَتّى لا تَكونَ فِتْنَةٌ وَيَكونَ الدِّينُ كُلَّهُ لِلَّهِ﴾“And fight them until there is no more strife and until the Deen, all of it, is for Allah” [TMQ Surah Al-Anfal: 39].
