Sexual Perversions: A By-Product of Rotten Capitalist Liberal System

Ever since the dichotomy of state and religion came into reality, secularism reared its ugly head frowning upon religions and moralistic prescriptions which, according to them, were bogging down the innate humanistic instincts and were a blockade in the optimal flourishing of the humans.

The promiscuity, brute nakedness, obscenity, illicit relations, sexual frenzy and unnatural satisfaction of sexual desires not only became the norm but its glorification and level of embracement became the benchmark of progressiveness and enlightenment. So, thereby the traditionalists, conservatives and religious were tainted and painted as backwards and retrogrades missing the mainstream train sway of progressive human development.

This is what Quran reports the statement of Pharaoh who was boastful of his rotten civilization and practices. Complaining about the purported conspiracies of Musa (as) and Haroon (as), the Magicians said as stated in the Qur’an:

[قَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَـٰذَٰنِ لَسَـٰحِرَٰنِ يُرِيدَانِ أَن يُخْرِجَاكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِمَا وَيَذْهَبَا بِطَرِيقَتِكُمُ ٱلْمُثْلَى]

“These two are magicians, who want to drive you out of your land with their magic and to destroy ‘your excellent way of life’.” Quran [20:63]. This Quranic ayah brings forth the continuing struggle between Haqq and Baatil.

Having all the naturalistic sexual desires avenue explored, the unchained man took perverted unnatural lusts to new low which can even shame the beasts, giving in to homosexuality, incest, pedophilia, zoophilia etc. and the list is long and ever increasing. This is simply the natural manifestation of letting loose the carnal and instinctual drive of procreation instinct to be fulfilled in any way an individual deems fit as the dominant ideology of Capitalism having secularized the public life, considered humans to be only a ‘thinking animal’ whose thinking is limited to only actualizing the material progress and development. They never allowed that ‘thinking’ to drift away in the domains of spirituality, morality or rational thinking resulting in the recognition of a Creator who created this Universe for a specified objective.

The Capitalistic West who adopts the idea of secularism may have revived in terms of material progress and development but have reeled down the depths of bestial debauchery. Having dismal regulation of male-female relationships, the West has become a breeding ground for the festering sexual diseases and perversions. If we just have a look at some of the data in this regard we find that about 40% of births in the US occur outside of marriage, up from 28% in 1990. In 2021, 51% babies were born to unmarried mothers in England and Wales hence diminishing the legitimate births to minority. The percentage of US adults who self-identify as LGBT has increased to a new high of 7.1% which is double the percentage from 2012.  Interestingly, the increase reflects the higher prevalence of such identities among the youngest US adults compared with older generations. Roughly, 21% of those born between 1997-2003 identify as LGBT. And, these numbers are ever increasing. The support, sympathy and advocacy for such wantonness are all pervasive in Western countries and increasingly finding resonance in the Third World countries as well. In a rather conservative society, like India, live in relationships have not only been legalized by the Supreme Court but roughly its reported incidences touch 40% of male-female relationships. These sexual perversions have given way to unbridled spiral of increase in sexual crimes as the instinct that should have been regulated and controlled but are given a free leash without any responsibility and sense of bond resulting in just satisfying the instinct by any means.

This has gutted the ‘ashraful makhlooq’ (the best creation) made of ‘ahsanul taqweem’ (in the best of mould and stature) to ‘asfala saafileen’ (lowest of the low).

This basal sexual chaos is due to the ideological patronage of the capitalist- secular- liberal system and its concept of freedoms. Among the many freedoms accorded by Capitalism to the individuals is the personal freedom which unhooks and detaches an individual from every regulation and control may they be moralistic, spiritual or religious as long as he does not infringe upon the freedoms of other individuals. He has the right to marry or to have an extra-marital relationship with any woman as long as it is done with her consent.

He has the right to practice sexual perversion as long as this practice does not involve a minor. Also, he has the right to eat, drink and wear whatever he wants within the public laws. For these Capitalists, the concept of halal and haram does not exist when it comes to personal conduct, as long as the person behaves lawfully, and "lawful behaviour" in the Capitalist societies is subject to disparity of laws from one society to another and from one time to another.

Religion has no influence upon this freedom. The system is detached from religion according to the Capitalist ideology. As a result of applying this type of freedom in the Capitalist societies, immorality has spread. Men and women live together without any legal relationship, and even men and women have partners of the same sex and establish abnormal relationships among themselves under the protection of the law.

Islam does not believe in the ideas of freedom, liberation, or equality of the woman, for it does not leave the human being to decide how they should live their life according to their own desires or allow mankind to legislate their own laws for the society and create their own system from the ignorance, bias, greed, and limited understanding that they have of each other’s needs. The system comes completely from the Creator, covering all of life’s affairs: ruling, economic, judicial, education and the social system dealing with the relationship and duties of men and women within the society. Allah (swt) says in Quran:

[وَمَا كَانَ لِمُؤْمِنٍ وَلَا مُؤْمِنَةٍ إِذَا قَضَى اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَمْرًا أَنْ يَكُونَ لَهُمُ الْخِيَرَةُ مِنْ أَمْرِهِمْ ۗ وَمَنْ يَعْصِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلَالًا مُبِينًا]

“It is not fitting for a believer, man or woman, when a matter has been decided by Allah and His Messenger, to have any option about their decision. If anyone disobeys Allah and His Messenger, he is indeed on a clearly wrong path”.[TMQ Al-Ahzab:36].

Within Islam, the Muslim woman has contentment in her life, for the only expectations she has to live up to are those of the Creator and not the continually changing or unrealistic expectations of her husband, family, community or society. She is not expected to be the superwoman who has a successful busy career but at the same time has to fulfill the duties of being a wife and mother perfectly.

With regards to the honour, respect, and security that a woman deserves, Islam establishes this in two ways. Firstly, Islam rejects liberal freedoms and rather promotes taqwa (God-consciousness) within society that nurtures a mentality of accountability in the manner by which men view and treat women. It prohibits the sexualisation of society as well as all forms of objectification and exploitation of women’s bodies, such that the relationship between the sexes is never debased or the woman devalued. It celebrates a comprehensive social system that regulates the relationship between men and women, and includes a modest dress code, the segregation of the genders, and prohibition of extramarital relationships — all of which directs the fulfillment of the sexual desires to marriage alone, protecting women and society.

Islam commands that the man views the woman as an honour to be protected at all times and as a trust that the Creator has placed in his hand, whether it is his mother, daughter, wife, or any woman in society. He understands that his treatment towards her can bring him either reward or punishment in the Hereafter. In a hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (saw), he said, «الدنيا متاع، وخير متاع الدنيا المرأة الصالحة»“The world and all things in the world are precious but the most precious thing in the world is a virtuous woman”.

In his farewell sermon to the Muslims, he (saw) reminded them, «استوصُوا بالنساءِ خيرا؛ فإنهن عندَكم عَوانٌ؛ ليس تملكون منهن شيئا غير ذلك؛ إلا أن يأتين بفاحشةٍ مبيِّنة، فإن فعَلْن فاهجُروهن في المضاجعِ واضربوهن ضرباً غير مُبرِّح؛ فإنْ أطَعْنَكم فلا تبغُوا عليهن سبيلا. I enjoin good treatment of women, for they are prisoners with you, and you have no right to treat them otherwise, unless they commit clear indecency. If they do that, then forsake them in their beds and hit them, but without causing injury or leaving a mark. If they obey you, then do not seek means of annoyance against them. You have rights over your women and your women have rights over you. Your rights over your women are that they are not to allow anyone whom you dislike to tread on your bedding (furniture), nor allow anyone whom you dislike to enter your houses. And their right over you are that you should treat them kindly with regard to their clothing and food.”

Within a true Islamic Society, the correct Islamic concepts will affect the men within the society at large, who will view the woman as an honour regardless of whether she has a career or not. This can be seen in an example at the time when there was a true Islamic society. The leader or Khalifah at the time was Umar bin Al-Khattab (ra). A situation arose where a Jew was found assassinated. Umar asked the people if they knew about the matter, whereupon a Muslim called Bak’r in Shad’dakh appeared before him and said, “I have killed him”. Umar was astonished and asked him for the reason. The man explained that a Muslim brother had gone on Jihad and consigned his family members to him to look over in his absence. When he arrived at the house of the brother, he had found the Jew inside reciting poetry slandering the reputation of the brother’s wife by implying that he had spent the night with her in his absence. As a result, he killed him to protect the honour of the woman who had been placed under his protection. On hearing all the details, Umar exempted him from paying any compensation to the family of the Jew.

The second manner by which Islam protects the honour of the woman is by the presence of an Islamic State or a Khilafah Rashidah (righteous Caliphate). The Khilafah is the ruling system of Islam that applies all of the commands of Islam that includes for example prayer, fasting, zakat (obligatory charity), the economic laws, the social system that regulates the relationship of men and women within the society, and the punishment system of Islam. Hence, Islam wages an ideological war against every kind of promiscuity and obscenity and channelizes the procreation instinct to the institution of marriage allowing to marry four at a time. The social system of Islam can only be implemented by the Islamic State (Khilafah), as only state has the power to formulate the perceptions of the people according to the thought of Islam and then enforcing the Islamic solutions to regulate the social system and inflicting Islamic hudood (punishments) in case of contravention.
