News Right Now: Words of Truth

During the blessed month of Dhul Hijjah a few days before Eid al Adha, the repressive Jordanian regime arrested under false charges, the esteemed doctor and dawah carrier Dr Salem al Jaradat. He was one of the workers with Hizb ut Tahrir and despite his essential role in caring for his incapacitated father he once again fell victim to the unjust Jordanian regime.

The corrupt regime has already arrested him several times, the last time was in 2017 when he was even imprisoned for three years. Notwithstanding this, the regime ensured that he was dismissed from his job and further deprived of job opportunity, despite his PHd qualification in the interpretation of the Quran.

Everyone who knew the noble brother will never forget his honourable position in expelling the Jews from the city of Karak years ago, and those who accompanied him were accustomed to his bravery and determination, characterised by his frequent quoting of the poet’s words, “All I know is what I’m forced to drink... the cup of humiliation is not in my power”.

The supposed ‘crime’ of our brother was simply that he spoke the truth about the Zionist state and the atrocities they commit in Palestine. However this is too much to bear for the Jordanian regime, whose ‘friendly’ status with the Zionists supersedes all responsibility towards its own citizens - giving allegiance to the Zionists and disavowing their own citizens, the complete opposite of the Islamic principle of walaa and baraa.

And this is betrayal of Islam and the Muslims has been ongoing for decades. The Jordanian regime has been loyal to the Zionist state since their inception and every edict, measure and action taken by them undermines Islam.

For instance the recent case of Dr Wafa Alkhadra, professor of English at the American university of Madaba and member of Jordan’s Royal Committee to Modernise the Political System, highlighted the kind of people the Jordanian regime willingly promotes regarding its most pertinent political matters. Wafa Alkhadra posted a comment posted on her Facebook account criticizing what she described as the “unjustified slaughter of sheep” during Eid Al-Adha, and having the audacity to claim the annual ritual has nothing to do with Islam! In her comment, which she later deleted, Al-Khadra wrote, "Sheep butchering and serving it as Udhiyah (sacrifice) is unjustified and has nothing to do with Islam ... the ritual is inhumane and lacks mercy”. She, like every secular, liberal reformist, also claimed that the practice went against modern concepts of environmental and ecosystem balance.

Compare the promotion of this woman whose hatred for Islam is apparent in the desire to reform the noble speech of Allah swt, to the obstacles to employment the regime has placed, and the oppression directed towards, the honest dawah carrier Salim Jaradat, whose expertise in Quranic studies qualifies him for a great contribution to the Islamic political cause and the role of Jordan in the Middle East and beyond.

In the face of this shameful and humiliating situation imposed by the Muslim rulers on the Muslim Ummah, the time has come for the Jordanian army, which is the nearest to Al-Aqsa, and has already achieved victory in the glorious Battle of Al-Karama! to step up and take on the Zionist entity with full trust and reliance on Allah to shatter the illusion of the Zionist’s “invincible army”.

The Jordanian army must answer the call of Allah and take up their role as great warriors and martyrs of Islam as their descendants were. And the Ummah must remember that Dr Jaradat is a reflection of their own aim of liberation, and the desire for victory over the Zionist occupiers. His words are a reminder of the Muslims’ true goal and aspiration, which is to be lifted from our current state of humiliation, where the wholesale oppression and collective punishment of Muslims is carried out.

Nothing less than the liberation of Al Quds and the holistic implementation of Islam in the Muslim lands under the Khilafah state is acceptable.

“O you who believe! Answer Allah (by obeying Him) and (His) Messenger when he calls you to that which will give you life, and know that Allah comes in between a person and his heart (i.e. He prevents an evil person from deciding anything). And verily to Him you shall (all) be gathered.” [Al-Anfal: 24]
